Benefits of Hydroseeding

In our experience here at L&S Site Contractor, when most people think about planting seeds, they think about placing the seeds by hand. While this method is effective for small personal gardens, it quickly becomes impractical at larger scales. For example, when our experts need to plant seeds across vast areas, we prefer to use a method known as hydroseeding. Keep reading to discover more about how hydroseeding works and the benefits it offers.

Benefits of Hydroseeding

During the hydroseeding process, seeds are combined with mulch, soil amendments, and water to create a slurry. This slurry is then applied to the land using pressure hoses, allowing people to plant seeds across a lot of land in a fraction of the time it would take to plant them by hand. The hydroseeding method can be beneficial for a number of reasons, including:

  • Coverage – Hydroseeding has consistently resulted in better lawn coverage compared to other methods, such as hand seeding or sodding. A hydroseeded lawn will have an increased likelihood of maintaining thick, even coverage. In turn, this superior coverage does a better job of retaining moisture and preventing soil erosion.
  • Lawn Health – Another benefit of hydroseeding is the way it promotes healthier growth. There is no risk of transplant shock because the seeds are grown on-site, and the grass seeds will also have all the nutrients they need to grow strong and healthy right from the start.
  • Cost-Effectiveness – A third benefit of hydroseeding is its superior cost-effectiveness. Hydroseeding requires less labor than other methods of lawn planting, which reduces the costs considerably.
